Member of Ordre des Ergotherapeutes du Québec (OEQ)
Bengisu graduated from McGill University with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 2017. After practicing both in Quebec and Alberta in clinical and school settings, she returned to Montreal to join the enthusiastic and innovative team at Kiddo Active Therapy.
Bengisu has had the opportunity to work with children of all ages since her teenage years. She first developed a passion for pediatrics when working as an English language instructor in France in 2012. Working in a school setting, she felt that students, their parents and teachers needed extensive support, however, they were not receiving it sufficiently due to various challenges. That is when she decided to study Occupational Therapy and find ways to not only provide therapy but also to advocate for those children and their families, when necessary. Throughout her studies at McGill University and her practices as new graduate, Bengisu has had the chance to expand her knowledge in using sensory and neurodevelopmental approaches in both community and school-based settings. She has had the opportunity to collaborate with many other specialists such as, speech language pathologists, applied behaviour specialists, school psychologists, social workers, and more. Therefore, she appreciates working collaboratively with the child, their families, and the rest of the multidisciplinary team.
Bengisu would describe herself as a fun and free spirited person who loves to travel and immerse herself into new cultures. She loves listening to different types of music and dancing. Having a Middle Eastern and Mediterranean background, cooking and eating become a big part of her life. During her free time, she enjoys getting out of the city life and into the sunshine.
