Exciting News from Kiddo Active Therapy: Introducing Gymnastics Club!
We're thrilled to announce the upcoming session of our Gymnastics Club at Kiddo Active Therapy! This club was created to address gross motor skills in a fun and engaging way. Using a sensory-motor approach grounded in occupational therapy principles, as well as her extensive background in gymnastics, Melany will guide a small group of children through structured gymnastics movement experiences designed to help kiddos understand their bodies, move them successfully, and have fun experimenting the way their bodies work. Because this club is being done in a group setting, the kiddos will also benefit from the added dimension of practicing their social skills - learning to take turns, communicate, and support one another in a safe and predictable environment.
What Will Sessions Look Like?
Each session will last 50 minutes and will focus on gymnastics skills, mainly on the floor apparatus, but all events will be touched upon.
● Warm-up movement activities to help get bodies ready to engage
● Sensory-motor circuits targeting body awareness, coordination, balance, and sensory processing
● Social connection through cooperative games and group challenges
● Cool-down activity at the end
Who Is This Program For?
This club is designed for children who:
● Struggle with gross motor skills - balance, coordination, motor planning, etc.
● Benefit from movement-based learning
● Have an interest in gymnastics
● Would benefit from a small, structured, social group setting
● Have previously received OT services and are ready to apply skills in a group context
● Are looking for a supportive next step alongside or following individual therapy
Schedule: 6 sessions
