Member of the “Ordre des Orthophonistes et Audiologistes du Québec” (OOAQ)
Valerie graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2014 with a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She has been working and volunteering with kids in one capacity or another for the last ten years, and has known from a young age that her office would have to have toys and games in it. Valerie is thrilled to join the Kiddo Active team and looks forward to the collaboration that a multi-disciplinary clinic offers!
One of Valerie’s greatest skills is her ability to engage children in almost any task, and to make it fun for them. She describes herself as being flexible and easy-going, attributes she uses to build a good rapport with her clients and their families. Each session is tailored to the child’s needs, as well as to their learning style. In her practice, Valerie develops goals alongside her clients to improve their speech and language skills, while also working towards an improved quality of life. When she isn’t thinking up new and exciting ideas for her clients, Valerie can often be found catching up with friends and family, leading a Girl Guide meeting, or dreaming of summertime at the beach. She and her fiancé love to host dinner parties together, but on a quiet day her favourite thing is to curl up with a good book next to her cat, Penny, and her bird, Petey.
