Karina earned her master’s degree in Occupational therapy at the University of Ottawa. She also holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Clinical exercise physiology from Concordia University. She has spent many years tutoring children from the ages of 3-18 years. During her studies, she interned in a variety of pediatric settings including school- based, early intervention as well as at the CLSC Early Childhood program. In New York, she volunteered her time at a multi-disciplinary pediatric clinic, where she helped develop a social skills program for preschoolers diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She has obtained several certifications in Children’s Yoga and handwriting. She strongly believes that play helps develop emotional well-being and increases a child’s ability to explore, problem solve and create. Karina has a special interest in feeding, sensory integration and positive psychology.
She also enjoys working closely with families to help their children achieve their goals. She believes that every child is unique and that their differences should be celebrated. Inspiring possibilities and nurturing children by using a holistic strengths’-based approach is her mission.
When Karina is not busy working, she likes to travel, learn, do yoga, cook, read and spend time with her family! Karina is delighted to be part of the knowledgeable Kiddo Active team and hopes to share her passion for working with children as well as her vision that “Every child is a unique star and deserves the right to twinkle in their own way!”
