As we are unaware of how long this situation will go on, we are putting into place a plan to allow us to offer services to our families throughout the ordeal, so that no progress is lost. In order to be able to continue to offer our families the support that they have come to expect from us we have been researching telehealth options this week. We now feel ready to move forward with this new form of therapy. Here are the important pieces of information you need you need to know:
Platform: We will be using Zoom – there is a free app to download and this can be done on a computer, tablet or phone. This will allow us to also complete sessions outside as the weather gets nicer. The evening before or the morning of your session you will receive an email with the link you need to click on in order to join the meeting (ie: session).
Requirements: Computer, tablet or phone with reliable internet connection, a camera, speaker and microphone (usually part of the computer, tablet or phone). Please be sure that the technology is fully charged or plugged in. A parent or responsible adult is required to be present to start the session and act as facilitator throughout the session, unless the child is old enough to complete the session on their own. We will also encourage parents to apply therapy games and ideas into their home activities once the session is completed.
Scheduling: Each therapist will set their availability based on home responsibilities and email you their availabilities. Once we have received your consent form we will reach out to offer you available session times to allow you to choose what is best. We will then book in the sessions for each family in our regular scheduling software. This means you will continue to receive an email reminder 2 days before your appointment, allowing you time to cancel or re-schedule. Our regular cancellation policy will apply. We recommend setting up a regular schedule after trying out the first session because our reduced availabilities and high demand for this service may make it harder to schedule an ideal time. Once our in-person services begin again we will return to our previously arranged scheduling.
Costs: Remain the same - $115/hr for our services. Should some families and their therapist decide that 30-minute sessions are a better fit, adaptations can be made. Please note that a good deal of extra preparation and follow up will be required by your therapists, but we are happy to do this to maintain your child’s quality of care.
Payment method: We will offer 2 options. Families can choose to email money transfer the payment (tele@kiddoactive.com) or have their credit card billed at the end of the week. Many of our families already choose to have their card billed at the end of the week and there is a form attached to this email that we use to track this confidential information.
Receipts: We will email the receipt, which will look the same as usual, to you once payment has been processed. If you are unsure about your insurance coverage, we encourage you to call to confirm that your coverage remains intact.
Types of sessions: We will be offering treatment sessions for current clients and are currently looking into screening or evaluation possibilities. This is also a good time to look into the possibility of parent coaching sessions because we are all spending a lot of time together – which allows for great play and therapy opportunities, but also brings with it some challenges not experienced on a typical day.
Material: We will be sending families an excel spread sheet with a list of material that is commonly found at home and asking you to check off what you have available at this time. We will also leave a section for you to add in any items that you may have at home that we did not account for, as well as any boardgames, etc. The day before each session your therapist will email you the excel sheet after highlighting the items that you should prepare for the following day’s therapy session. This will allow for a smooth therapy session and optimal participation from the children involved. This email will also include any worksheets for you to print. This spread sheet will also have a place to indicate whether or not you have access to a printer.
Please note:
Reception is not running at full capacity at this time. We ask that you email questions to your therapist or to the email: tele@kiddoactive.com in order to get a quick response.
You will be sent a new consent form with all the information. We cannot set up sessions until this form has been signed and emailed back to us.
We look forward to seeing our families again! It’s important to us that your children maintain their relationship with their therapist as well as some consistency as their world is being turned upside down around them. Please contact us if you have questions regarding our new program.
